Iran ‘The Salesman’ stands among US box office bestsellers

Iranian blockbuster ‘The Salesman’ has sold more than $1.1 million in the US box office.

Iranian blockbuster ‘The Salesman’ has sold more than $1.1 million in the US box office.

Directed by renowned Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi, the movie is currently on the silver screen in 94 US theaters since 25 days ago.

‘The Salesman’ tells the story of a young couple named Emad (Shahab Hosseini) and Rana (Taraneh Alidoosti) who move into a new apartment in the center of Tehran. However, an incident linked to the previous tenant dramatically changes their lives.

The film has already won double awards for Best Screenplay and Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival this year.

Farhadi also won the best film and the best director awards of the same festival for ‘A Separation’ in 2012.

Farhdi's most famous movie, ‘A Separation’, grabbed global recognition as becoming the first Iranian movie to win an Oscar at the 84th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film.
